Played music at a winery yesterday and now I'm enjoying their fun 2012 Gewürztraminer. Aromas of ginger, and ripe rose petals hit me immediately. Then just a hint of jasmine. Took a sip and tasted tart green apple mingling with candied orange- Unique and surprising combo! Took a taste of dry roasted macadamias and then the wine tasted almost exactly like key lime pie. Berry forward, balanced, lush. A versatile, welcoming Pinot from Russian River. Paired quite nicely with 'Luke's' organic/ gluten free Black pepper multigrain & seed crackers, topped with a pinch of Kerrygold Irish aged cheddar soaked in Irish whiskey. I imagine this Pinot would complement either a robust cornmeal crust/ italian sausage pizza, or a light Brie/green apple sandwich. Altogether complementary and accommodating feel to this vino... — 11 years ago
