Wittmann
100 Hills Pinot Blanc
4th wine of my birthday blind tasting. I found the right country but not the right varietal 😅.
Very flinty nose, hay, white flower, a bit of lemon zest too which is what tipped me off I think (I thought it was a German riesling). There was a bit of co2 upon opening too which is one more reason for me calling it a riesling blind.
The palate is clearly not that of a riesling, now that I now, but hey 😁. Long and bright palate with some width, some very vivid mouthfeel, some grip, a tiny touch of lemon zest. The grip is tightening in the rear and powers up a long, fresh, subtly zesty finish. This is a good one!
Edit. The wine opened after an hour or so and some nice underlying peachy and peary notes popped on the palate, making it delicious. One more point
