Tart to start, but when allowed to breathe, wow. Great with bbq tri-tip.

2012 on thanksgiving 2015. Uncle Gerry brought from the vineyard. Maybe $50. Pretty decent and full of clean flavor.

Nov 26th, 2015First experience with this Italian grape, which in reading the wine label I see is more often used in blending rather than a straight varietal (and only planted in three vineyards in Paso). I can see why it's usually blended, though, as it's not overly interesting by itself. Dark purple like a petite Sirah, but without the fruity notes to balance it out. Nice to try new things, but I don't think I'd go back to this one again.
