Amarone Della Valpolicella Corvina Blend

It's so hard to get my head around Amarone with less than 10 years of bottle age, but the venue constrained my options. That said, this seems to be a more straightforward style of the revered Corvina blend. Nothing over-extracted, typical fruit notes of raisin, dried plum, maybe some cassis...in a warm brûlée with baked spice, graphite, and toasty oak and vanilla. The weight is moderate and the mouthfeel elegant. The only missing element versus the great cuvées is a bit of complexity/depth. Indeed, this is more like the best Valpolicella Ripassos I've had, with a touch more phenolic extraction. Call it a super-Valpo.
