This is a delicious Amarone from Italy. Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked strawberries, spices, light vegetables, herbs, chocolates, tobacco, peppercorn, espresso and vinaigrette.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins.
This 8 year old Amarone is drinking very nicely now, although it seems that it saw better times. A little overripe now, but still delicious. Showing great complexity with a nice mouthfeel.
I let it open for 2 hours. Died after 4 hours.
I paired it with cheeses, olives and crackers.
A blend of Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. Aged for 24 months in oak barrels.
15% alcohol by volume.

Nose of cherry, prune, espresso, tobacco, and light butterscotch. Full body with good depth of flavor. The subtle sweetness of the fruits without the raisiny feel is especially nice. Mellow tannins makes for a smooth finish.

I love Amarone. This one is not my fav. Rating perhaps lower than should be due to expectations for this type of wine...
