Very interesting! Dryness of a cote du Rhone but can taste the underlying dried fruit, raisin.

Squished and dried up black and blue fruit, jerky, chocolate, anise and library dust. Palate is ripe with maybe a touch of RS, expressive and showing a lot of youthfulness. It's like someone turned the volume down on Amarone (and alcohol).

.......unlike some so called "Amarone" producers, who trim the canopy back to sun blister the grapes in order expedite the sugar concentration, and also trellis lower to the ground to obtain excess moisture and rapid raisination, the Biscardo family's Ripasso Superiore is a TRUE " baby Amarone". In fact.....for a fraction of the price, it is better than many of those AmaPHONY producers Amarone!

Jumps out of the glass with an abundance of aromas. Cooked red & black fruits, raisin, beef jerky and violets. Sweet and delicious with a smooth finish and very little in the way of tannins or too much acid. As good as many Amarones at 3x-4x times the price.

Delightfully full of flavors. Red licorice, dark cherry, wood. Very low acid and low tannins.
