This is the special reserve 16. The whiskey notes are maybe too strong and throw off the balance. Still quite enjoyable (even Mircea tried a sip).

Yup, has the classic heathery smoke of Highland Park encasing the flavor of the ale. Ale leans toward coffee and dark chocolate. Pretty dry. Would be curious how a well-made stout would handle this treatment. Or: How cool would it be to get that heather smoke as the backbone instead of the skin of this beer?? Tasty, though.

Special Reserve 12, matured in Highland Park casks. Do not drink while cold. Malty with a bit less body and whisky character than other versions of this I've had. Still pairs well with Rocky Patel cigar.

Chocolate, little raisin, and drying coffee on the nose. Medium-full, dark body that at 8% skips so lightly on its feet that it left my tongue before I got to hear what it could've said. (Finish too short for my taste). Drink before it gets too warm.

A bit of let down as my recollection of this beer was of a much more intense whisky character. Got Tom incredibly high though.
