My first stab at 1/2 of the dynamic duo’s effort. Tiny berry intensity & dark cherries on nose; on palate more of that intensity & small berry thing- the fruit is quite lush & generous, with an elegant & serious tannin frame demanding some time & air. A brooding quality smashes into Monty Python? Which is to say decanting moves the whole show in the right direction, & I found my self marveling at the QPR as the wine deepened & softened. I want to say there is some odd humor in the labels portrait of the vintner, given the semi stoic painting & from what I might infer to be a less mannered & more of a wild man character, but what do I know? It’s a fascinating tip of the wine hat, so to speak.

This is insane. The new Liaison from Sven’s new winery. Gorgeous nose that really recaptures that E and M magic from 2009 and 2010. Deep cherries. Black cherries. Galore. Lipstick like intensity. Smells like elite Nuits St. Georges. Mindblowing for how pure it is. The most unreal dark black cherry fruit you’ve ever smelled. Like AI levels of black cherry. Also a lovely chalky background and compelling minerality. Blackberry and blackberry flower as well. So juicy and engaging with terrific power and wow that black cherry and blackberry fruit. Unreal freshness and sap. Awesome concentration and intensity and super small berry fruit intensity. This is so insanely delicious and has terrific backbone and structure for mid term aging. Now with air the florals are starting to go crazy. Also tree bark and other non fruit aromas. Just so good. Wow the concentration is off the charts. This is utterly compelling and unlike anything I have ever had from Germany. Genius.

Very very good. Really no Burgh can match this especially not at the price point. Hint volatility which blows off. Fantastic pinot fruit - mostly dark fruit interspersed with earth and dirt, violets and dark cherry/lime. Basically one of the best out there. 2022E & M’s are awesome. This in on the earthy side from Sven Enderle. Florian Moll’s version is more floral and juicy - both absolutely world class - long live Baden!
