Château Lalande D'Auvion
Cru Bourgeois Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend
Médoc, Bordeaux, France

It is time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.
Ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Beautiful nose of black currants, black plums, cooked cherries, light oak, chocolates, black pepper, light earth, tobacco leaf, light vegetables, herbs, eucalyptus and black tea.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, currants, light wood, coffee, dark chocolates, tobacco leaf, black tea, pencil lead, earth, herbs, mediterranean spices and peppercorn.
Tangy finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.
This 17 year old Merlot blend is still showing enough fruits to balance the earth notes.
What a nice surprise. I enjoyed it more than I expected. Nicely balanced and elegant. Complex and interesting.
Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. A good sipping wine.
A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.
13% alcohol by volume.
91 points.

Continuing that vintage train with this earthy, tobacco-y, medoc. Still very tannic and primary characteristics, but not complex enough where age would transform it too much.

Apr 1st, 2023Hmmm, fairly neutral low end claret. Drinkable and inoffensive but lacking flavour!

May 21st, 2021Can’t believe how good this is for the price, definitely better than the last bottle we opened. Nice nose, packs a punch but still well integrated, graphite and ink, in a word, delectable!
