Pretty good amarone, lots of character on nose, mushroom and underbrush, sweet sappy cherries and beetroot. Light, elegant style, well- balanced alcohol, still no doubt amarone with its sappy, seductive texture.

One of the first truly impressive Italian red wines I encountered. Just an amazing Amarone from a superb vintage that overdelivered thanks in part to its humble co-op origins. A kaleidoscope of flavors ranging from sarsaparilla, mahogany, herbs, baked red fruit, and cherry cola. In a wonderful place with hints of tertiary components appearing, while the structure is perfectly balanced with acid/tannin singing out for a full minute on the finish. $45

Color: ruby-brown
Nose: ripe plums, raislin, mature fruit, spicy (cinnamon, honey), smells very sweet
Palate: ripe plums, full bodied and high level of tannin, high level of structure, silky at the palate, full levels of flavour

(South London wine school tasting - 22/6/2016)

We had the 2005. Fantastic balance of fruit and earth. Leathery goodness. Really good, drinkable.
