This is one of three dark wines that we are exploring today. Artezin Zinfandel from California. It is by far the best zin I have ever had. I do love it but I cant give it more than 9.0 due to the bouquet. Im not sure what it is, but there are notes of fresh prune juice with asparagus being steamed in the kitchen. After a 30 minute decant it is much better with soft aromas of rhubarb pie baking in the oven. On the beginning palate, there is amazing spice and pepper. It is followed by blackberry and raspberry. There is smoke and earth tones as well. This my favorite Zin so far!!! The other two wines in this tasting are Alta Luna pinot noir and Wines of Substance cabernet.
