Quite light straw , green hints . On the nose this is quite restrained , some apricot , pineapple , white flower notes. On the palate again restrained , lemon peel , touch of apricot , pineapple, hint of toastiness . High acidity and really good balance , nice lemon peel tinged finish . This will probably age well , now and over the next 7-10 years — a month ago
The 2003 Blanchot pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, this is developing and all about the minerals with crushed seashell and chalk taking the lead over some verbana and a creamy lemon leesy thing. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and savory, leesy and mineral laden. A special wine that needs air to really come alive. Drink now with patience and through 2033. — 25 days ago
Even better than the crazy-good 2007, the 2015 La Sangre de Jonata is sheer perfection in a glass and up with the finest Syrahs ever made in California! Checking in as a blend of 97% Syrah and 3% Viognier, aged in barrel, its saturated purple color is followed by out of this world aromatics black raspberries, smoked earth, graphite, game, violets and freshly crushed rock-like minerality. — a month ago
Concentrated fruit, soft, and a bit of spice -
Some of the best value CdR out there, sourcing fruit from around Southern Rhône!! Jean Louis Chave expertise at an entry-level price.
This was a young wine but 2022 was a good year: Extreme drought vintage resulted in lower yields and concentrated, freshly acidic wines. — a month ago
Tecce is one of my favorite Italian producers. The 2022 Satyricon doesn’t disappoint. Opens up after 3-4 hours. Dried flowers, cherries and charcoal on the nose. Lovely aromatics. Tart cranberries with blackberries. Sharp minerality, mouth-puckering tannins, astringent, dry, dusty and savory long finish. Very long. Young. 14.5% abv, but it doesn’t feel overly full or heavy. I remember the 2020 being darker and more fruit-forward, but I could be wrong. — 25 days ago
Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (46%), Merlot (45%) and Petite Verdot (9%). Dark garnet/ruby color with a noticeable brick colored rim. Aromas of black fruit and berries, leather, rose petals and tobacco. Flavors of ripe black plums, black currant, black cherry, graphite and iodine. Long, earthy and softly textured finish that features a nice amount of oak. Well integrated and very soft tannins. Medium to medium-plus body. Still fresh and concentrated on it’s twentieth birthday. So easy to drink. Thanks for sharing this impressive bottle, Kase and Pete. Revisited in March 2025. At its peak! So beautifully balanced and soft. Fantastic! — a month ago

Elegant and still a little closed - it needed an hour to reveal its considerable depth of lemon, apple, flint, wet stone, friend lemon zest, candle wax. It’s just beginning to show hints of honey and hazelnut. Brilliant fresh acidity and long finish — 22 days ago
