Louis Roederer

Cristal Brut Champagne Chardonnay Pinot Noir Blend 2008

Bright, lively citrus galore. Lots of acidity and nuance... so much more complete and compelling than the delightful 09...balance, nuance, intensity... the wine is alive in the mouth shooting bright stars of lemon head sweet/sour notes all over. The longer it was open, the warmer it got... the more it charmed instead of assaulting the tastebuds. A glorious glass of French charm. — 9 months ago

Garcia Georgieva

Finca Cascorrales Graciano 2014

Very unusual for a Ribera del Duero. More reminiscent of a Morgon or a Jura red. Has the funk of a natural wine, quite raw but very enjoyable. — 9 months ago

Jacques Selosse

Lieux Dits Mareuil Sur Aÿ Sous Le Mont Extra Brut Grand Cru Champagne Blend

Light toasty notes on the nose with hints of spices. Lightly oxidized in the Selosse style which just leaves you with a finish that goes on for ages and ages.... one of the best bottles I’ve had. #happynewyear

Good chance this is my wine of the year despite it being the first week of Jan.

Amador County Chenin Blanc 2015

9.1

Clear and medium yellow in appearance. Expressive aromas on the nose with honeysuckle, lemon curd, light touch of butter and minerality. Crisp and structured acidity (6.5/10) with a medium minus body. Layered and rich palate with lemon curd, gravel, a little bit honeyed and a little bit of pears. Long finish with lingering acidity. Drink till 2023. — 9 months ago

Castiglione Barolo Nebbiolo 2013

So difficult to rate. Very closed on both nose and mouthfeel. Short finish. But, it has very very promising deeper layers which make me believe this a stunner in a couple of years. — 9 months ago

Hermitage Syrah 2014

A lovely mid-weight, herbal, meaty and spicy little number. The jovial side of Hermitage if ever there was one - 2014 from magnum. — 9 months ago

Château Gruaud Larose

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

Pop n pour. Reticent and stubborn upon opening. Revisit tomorrow.

On day two: balance is much better, the wine shows less stubborn and moody, dark fruit enters the spectrum.
Up two notches.

Clos du Mont-Olivet

La Cuvée du Papet Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2016

I’ve tasted some extraordinary prior vintages of Clos Du Mont-Olivet’s La Cuvée du Papet, but with Jeb Dunnuck’s call of perfection on 2016, my expectations were even higher. Jeb says it’s “pure perfection” and “unquestionably the greatest wine I’ve ever tasted from this estate and is a legendary wine in the making.” And yet it still blew the doors off those expectations. This Châteauneuf-du-Pape wildly outperforms in the following categories: Aromatics, purity of fruit, texture and mouthfeel, layers of complexity, intellectual stimulation, length, and, without question, deliciousness. 100%, wholeheartedly agree with @jebdunnuck “beg, borrow or steal to get a hold of this.” Sexy. Exotic. Spectacular. — 9 months ago

Great bottle, too.

Produttori del Barbaresco

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2015

For the money, this is my favourite Barbaresco as it always delivers @ a great price and the latest 2015 doesn’t disappoint either at £30 😉 Drink well young as these do but will get better 👍 A vintage not to miss!
