Enjoy an excerpt from this article and reviews below! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ “Friuli-Venezia Giulia’s potential is evident every time I visit and taste with winemakers. A melting pot of traditions, cultures and terroirs, Friuli-Venezia Giulia is capable of producing world-class wines from a staggering list of indigenous and international grape varieties. However, the region faces many hurdles in fully realizing that potential at a higher level.” -- Eric Guido, Pride and Tradition: The Friulian Way, April 2023 1. 2021 Attems Ramato Venezia Giulia Pinot Grigio 2. 2020 Borgo del Tiglio Ronco della Chiesa Collio Tocai Friulano 3. 2021 Azienda Agricola Gradis'Ciutta Pinot Grigio Collio Goriziano 4. 2020 Jermann Vintage Tunina Venezia Giulia White Blend 5. 2021 Livio Felluga Colli Orientali Del Friuli Pinot Grigio 6. 2021 Marco Sara Friuli Colli Orientali Friulano 7. 2021 Schiopetto Collio Friulano 8. 2021 Venica & Venica Ronco delle Mele Collio Sauvignon 9. 2021 Vie di Romans Dessimis Pinot Grigio

Dessimis Pinot Grigio 2021

Delectable Wine
9.0

The 2021 Pinot Grigio Dessimis lifts from the glass with exotic florals, sweet spices and peach. This opens with a burst of inner sweetness, complicated by zesty acidity and mineral tones, as a vivid note of ripe pear evolves on the palate. This finishes classically dry and slightly grippy, leaving nuances of white strawberry and rosy inner florals to linger. The 2021 is a more mellow edition of Dessimis, yet enjoyable all the same. Marco Sara

Friuli Colli Orientali Friulano 2021

Delectable Wine
9.0

The 2021 Friulano is a bit backward in the glass, peppery and floral with just a hint of green apple. It's soothingly round and pliant with a burst of zesty acidity and citrus tones that add lovely contrast. The 2021 finishes with sweet spice and sour melon notes, leaving the palate thirsting for more. This is a total pleasure on the palate, but make sure to give it some air to open up aromatically. Borgo del Tiglio (Nicola Manferrari)

Ronco della Chiesa Collio Tocai Friulano 2020

Delectable Wine
9.3

Crushed apples and sage mix with tropical florals as the 2020 Ronco della Chiesa comes to life in the glass. This is soothing on the palate with its soft textures, yet it is also stimulating. A blend of sour citrus and minerals adds tension toward the close. This takes on a bit of a tropical flair through the finish, hinting at fresh vanilla bean and ripe melon. While the 2020 comes across as highly appealing today, there's a core of underlying power here that promises even better things to come. The Ronco della Chiesa is a varietal Tocai Friulano and one of the standouts from the 2020 portfolio at Borgo del Tiglio. (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2023) — 10 months ago

Venica & Venica

Ronco delle Mele Collio Sauvignon 2021

Delectable Wine
9.1

The 2021 Sauvignon Ronco Delle Mele is delicate and understated in the glass, wafting up with hints of gingery spice and dried apricots. This is silky smooth and medium-bodied, with ripe orchard fruits and exotic spices flowing effortlessly across a juicy acidity core. A staining of saline minerals is left lingering beneath an air of inner florals as the 2021 finishes cooling and fresh. While balanced to age, I’m not sure if it matters because this vintage of Ronco Delle Mele aims to please. (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2023) — 10 months ago

Livio Felluga

Colli Orientali Del Friuli Pinot Grigio 2021

Delectable Wine
8.8

The 2021 Pinot Grigio wafts up with a floral mix of apricots and gingery spice. It's fruit-focused on the palate, with citrus-tinged green apple giving way to vanilla custard nuances toward the close. This leaves a staining of minerality while finishing on a savory note. Azienda Agricola Gradis'Ciutta

Pinot Grigio Collio Goriziano 2021

Delectable Wine
8.7

The 2021 Pinot Grigio opens with an exotic mix of florals, fruit and spice. It's softly textured with mounting tension as minerals and brisk acidity propel its tart orchard fruits. Honeyed inner florals linger along with a tropical melon hint as this finishes with medium length. (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2023) — 10 months ago

Schiopetto

Collio Friulano 2021

Delectable Wine
9.2

The 2021 Friulano is youthfully understated with a pretty bouquet that mixes lemon zest with mint and crushed rocks nuances. It washes across the palate with a tension-building mix of citrus-tinged acids and salty minerals as a core of tropical melon evolves toward the close. The 2021 finishes on a more delicate note, yet long with pretty inner florals that linger on and on. There’s a beautiful balance and underlying power here that will guarantee a lovely maturation in bottle. The best is yet to come. (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2023) — 10 months ago

Jermann

Vintage Tunina Venezia Giulia White Blend 2020

Delectable Wine
9.2

The 2020 Vintage Tunina is smokey and understated in the glass, with mint and sage complementing crushed yellow apples. This enters the palate with a pleasant inner sweetness and soft textures, traversing candied citrus and saline-tinged orchard fruits. The 2020 finishes with decent length and concentration, leaving a salty flourish and crystalline mineral tones that add an almost crunchy sensation. That said, the 2020 could use more time in bottle to evolve aromatically. (Eric Guido, Vinous, April 2023) — 10 months ago

Attems

Ramato Venezia Giulia Pinot Grigio 2021

Delectable Wine
8.9

The 2021 Pinot Grigio is savory and mineral in the glass, with citrus-tinged green apples and young peach forming its bouquet. This impresses with depths of textural, ripe orchard fruits offset by a core of saline minerality. It's incredibly fresh and vibrant from start to finish. A pleasant, bitter twang is left lingering.
