Best Schulen ever. So wispy and juicy with amazing fruit intensity and more finesse than I have ever had in a Schulen. — a day ago

After an awkward start, a good wine. Like a burg a bit. Maybe a little less rich on the palate. — a month ago

Jaspis Würmlin Grauer Burgunder 2016

Lyle Fass
9.8

Wasn’t called Wurmlin in 16 but it’s the same wine. At 8 years of age this is really coming into its own. Exuberant nose is stone fruits, grapefruit and gorgeous herbs. Some died tree bark and also citrus rind. Palate is stunning. Wow. 9.8 palate for now. Just so concentrated and energetic, with outrageous purity and depth. Amazing structure and length. Unreal palate. This is magic. Crazy citrus and stone fruits and endless finish. Genius! — 2 months ago

Jaspis Baden Alte Reben Spätburgunder 2011

Very dense and big! Could go for another 10-15 years. I like Ziereisen wines and met him. Yet i prefer more elegant renditions. Quite dark. Cherry, blackberry, lime, cherry. Super complex. Plenty of acids. If you have this in your cellar you are in for a treat. Ziereisen is a little bit full of himself rightfully so but still - i prefer the humble. — 5 days ago

Gestad Syrah

GE for Gestad.
Oh wow - they really nailed it in ‘21.
This has to be the most Burgundian Syrah I have ever tasted.
Upon opening this is _so_ Côte Chalonnaise Pinot - dark spicy cherry with a bit of structure & beef. With time more blueberry comes to the forefront together with some leather, a touch of rosemary, a whiff of freshly cracked black pepper. It remains hung somewhere between a Pinot and Côte Rotie. Very, very fresh & enticing.
Very fresh and Pinot-like on the palate as well. Juicy acidity, polished tannins. More Baden Pinot than Burgundy… but very precise, light, aetheric.
Blind I would have never said this is a Syrah!
Such a pleasure already now. And amazing value for money!

Jaspis Nägelin Chardonnay 2020

Enjoyed this much more than the Gutedel. There is still the characteristic diesel Ziereisen-note but there is plenty more going on in the background. Much easier to pair and very enjoyable! — 3 months ago

Rhini Blauer Spätburgunder 2014

Lyle Fass
9.7

Such a masterful wine at almost 11 years of age. Nose is luscious and deep. Mint and red fruits and dramatic exotic spices. Terrific minerality. Limestone galore. Layered and perfumed. Knockout. Some charcoal as well. Palate is so juicy and energetic giving luscious red cherries that burst with intensity on the explosive finish. Then it cuts a swath of mineral and slowly dissipates. The work of a genius. The sweetness of the fruit and depth of minerality are so intertwined here. Unreal purity. Truly the most amazing Rhini I have ever had. — a month ago

Jaspis Alte Reben Gutedel 10 4 2015

Boah, what an insane wine! Called it a 1er cru Chablis in our blind, while RP called it a lieu-dit Meursault. Can’t remember what vintage I called, but definitely younger than 2015. You get the gist. So pure, saline, and powerful. — 3 months ago
