2023 vintage. Medium body. Dark fruit mated with grip. Good balance with a modicum of richness at the start. Resto cost $15 a bottle on 3 cases. This is easily the most ridiculous, cheap chicken, Napa Cab offer I've come across in a decade. Word in the barrel room is that this is declassified juice from a major Cabernet player/participant that can't be tied into this effort. Tasted their Sauvignon Blanc (and I intently dislike SB) as well and it rocked for a similar price. Approx 5k cases of this Cab made so you might actually come across it. if you do, grab a case. 03.21.25. — 9 months ago
Bought this as an afterthought and quite pleased that I did. It's complex and rich, with blackcurrant/plum fruit, cedary oak and soft tannins all on the same page. Great value. — 4 years ago
This wine has a beautiful balance of stone and tropical fruit with crisp but not overbearing acidity. Acacia, Lemon, green apple, white peach and thyme happily nestle with vanilla, clove and a hint of hazelnut that gives a clue to lively future development. Medium body, and a long finish that leaves the palate refreshed and longing for another sip. — 6 months ago
And now to South Africa! Where they produce some awesome en es for decent prices. The Pinotage was created there. A crossing between Pinot Noir and Cinsault (which was called Hermitage in its olden days). It tastes like a Pinot Noir on steroids. But, when Kanonkop gets its hands on it they lift it up to a sensational experience. Vibrant, intense and layered with flavors. Their black label is their cream of the crop sourced from old vines. — 6 months ago

This is such an incredibly good Pinot noir - starting to get a touch of brick in the rim, it has pronounced aroma of cherry, violet, dried rose petal, orange zest, black cherry, wild strawberries, forest floor, and wild thyme (an unexpected garrigue-like note). Great finesse and elegance with the acidity giving a lean edge to the flavors and a terrifically long finish. A real tour de force of skill in the cellar. It will be good for another few years but drinking really well right now. — 3 years ago
