Château Brane-Cantenac

Baron de Brane Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2022

2022 vintage. 65 Merlot, 30 Cabernet Sauvignon, 4 Cabernet Franc, 1 Petit Verdot. A very different style compared to Brane Cantenac, as it comes from different vineyards and it is more Merlot dominated. But this 2022 is a great wine in its own right. — 3 days ago

Wonderful deep and rich wine. This is in great shape. Dark plum and blakcurrant with iron and bloody intensity. Great tension and complexity. So fresh. This is great — 11 days ago

Château Fortia

Cuvée du Baron Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2018

Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Beautiful nose of red fruits with earth, light wood, coffee, spices, dark chocolates and peppercorn.

Medium bodied with medium acidity.

Dry on the palate with black currants, plums, cooked cherries, spices, chocolates, light oak and licorice.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 8 year old GSM blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape is delicious now. Complex, well balanced and entertaining. Elegant and fruit forward.

I had the 2020 vintage not too long ago, and this one drinks so much better.

Will continue to age nicely in the next 5 to 7 years.

Robert Parker 93 points.

Easy drinking and good by itself as a sipping wine.

A blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Syrah and 20% Mourvedre. Aged in large French oak barrels for 18 months.

15% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$55.

After giving up on the flawed 1990 Clos des Papes, this rich, lovely Lirac is beautiful tonight, with promise for 5+ more years of positive development, very fine! — a month ago

Château Pichon-Longueville Baron

Baron de Pichon-Longueville Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Presented to me double-blind. The wine pours a deep garnet with an opaque core and some rim variation; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and signs of sediment. On the nose the wine is vinous with notes of cassis, blackberry, black plum, tobacco, menthol, leather, and mix of cool and warm spices. On the palate the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is really delicious.

Initial conclusions: this could be a Cabernet Sauvignon based blend or other Bordeaux-styled blend or a Tempranillo based blend from the United States, France or Spain. This saw French oak so I eliminated Spain. I thought the fruit was outshining the structure…so I liked the USA over France. And, based off the appearance, I thought this probably had 30+ years of age. Final conclusion: this is a Cabernet Sauvignon based blend from the United States, from California, Napa, Rutherford; 1994. Ugh…the 1990 vintage in Bordeaux has bit me twice now recently. Really awesome stuff! Drink now through 2040+.

Le Pauillac de Pichon Longueville Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

Drinking even more beautifully than 18 months ago. Beautiful nose, big fruits, and that whole cigar leaf thing going on, with hints of chocolate. But the reward here is the generously long finish. Wow! — a month ago

Les Tourelles de Longueville Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

After 10 years in the bottle, a decidedly savory second wine from this storied Second Growth château. Meaty, almost Northern Rhône character after uncorking. After a day in wine fridge the charcuterie notes ease a bit, blackberry, stewed cassis start to edge forward, classic #pauillac graphite and mineral notes that carry through on palate. Lovely tension on the palate and persistent fine tannins through the finish. — 2 months ago
