Leslie Ranch Pinot Noir

JKT
8.9

Belated notes on New Year’s Eve! Allison Oli wedding celebration dinner 10-7-24 Water Witch Club, “Uncle Jimmy” wine tasting table with vertical of Riesling and world tour of Pinot Noir. Third stop on world tour, more into the lusher California style with richer red fruits and floral notes even at this age but a bit more sense of heat. Quite a few liked this. Also no surprise. — 4 months ago

Rogue Farms

Pumpkin Patch Ale

Cola brown with limited hairdo. Disembodied flying bubble-eye pops to galactic swirl and water Buffalo horns in a crescent then ghost trail. Gingerbread cupcake intro sports chunks of candied ginger and a ginseng twang surfing a graham cracker and date aspect. Nice bitter cinnamon bite to start the palate. Allspice and saffron bring their bitter sweets turning trick to treat and brown sugar mixes it up with spiced tea to bring it all home. Pumpkin is very prominent here, to appease the complainers, which is nice! Stop the bellyaching! .

Founder's

KBS Chocolate Coffee Stout

Hard pour if you’ve a desire to to see a head of coffee foam in dark cappuccino. It loiters a little with unctuous lacing that stick in place in globules, sporadically spaced. Dark chocolate scented, where brew, and coffee bean mix with toffee and sweet cedar, vanilla bean and nougat. Chocolate-pecan-caramel turtles amp up with mocha and espresso, a tiny pinch of black pepper, dark tobaccos, bakers chocolate, and brown sugar coated malt chocolate. Sweet initially, then revelatory as it sorts its relationships, then bitter, with pine, acanthus, chicory, walnut and pecan shell. Warm, rich, and covered in monster muck. Like a cigar smoke filled station wagon driven by a dark chocolate Santa after an Italian truck stop espresso run being slowly pulled into a tar pit. One for the ages. Happy holidays, ya filthy animals!

Belated notes on New Year’s Eve! Allison Oli wedding celebration dinner 10-7-24 Water Witch Club, “Uncle Jimmy” wine tasting table with vertical of Riesling and world tour of Pinot Noir. 4th stop on tour, obligatory stop at Burgundy. Very decent representative, if not outstanding. Balanced though reticent. Good enter into the big bottle! — 7 months ago

Belated notes on New Year’s Eve! Allison Oli wedding celebration dinner 10-7-24 Water Witch Club, “Uncle Jimmy” wine tasting table with vertical of Riesling and world tour of Pinot Noir. This is the last stop on tour and the highlight, Double Magnum bottle with top receding to well above neck but in great shape! Phew! All the other offerings used up one bottle but this four bottle equivalent was totally gone , many skipped the other wines and went to the big boy out of curiosity. 25 years, Ben M birth year! Beautiful nose of overripe and fading red berries and fruits with fall leaves weaving in and out, hints of mushrooms, damp earth. Still lively on palate and long mellow finish. Unique experience. Highlight of the evening, talk of the town. — 7 months ago

Azienda Agricola il Borghetto

Montigiano Sangiovese 2018

2021/5/5-6 with mole chichilo and chicken, katsuo tataki, etc. I adore this wine; this year’s model is especially effusive and giving. Soaring raspberry, strawberry, cherry and flowers - it really is Burgundian, but with that twist of blood orange that says Chianti. Limpid like cool spring water but with a savory mineral depth. People sometimes talk about dangerously drinkable wines, but this is truly that - so delicious and moreish it’s hard to stop. — 3 years ago

Belated notes on New Year’s Eve! Allison Oli wedding celebration dinner 10-7-24 Water Witch Club, “Uncle Jimmy” wine tasting table within vertical of Riesling and world tour of Pinot Noir. Second stop, modern yet balanced style with nice matured red fruits and silky palate with nice finish. Many liked it, as per Oregon Pinot popularity. — 7 months ago

Extradimensional Wine Co. Yeah!

Local Election Zinfandel Blend 2021

Light opaque red color. Bright berry notes with a hint of forest-floor on the nose. Beautiful balance for such a youthful wine with an impressive weightlessness on the palate. Absolutely crushable by the water glassful and hard to stop at a single bottle for two. Official initial bottle of the 2022 Holiday week. Merry Christmas, y’all. — a year ago

Limited Release Napa Valley Albariño 2019

Deeeeeliteful. Very unassuming but it’s got subtle depth. Salinity and citrus soothed by honeysuckle. It’s like, “I’m gonna sprint across the ocean walking on water but when I get zonked I’m gonna stop to smell the roses, ocean marathons can wait” and then it trots on. Supes into it. — 3 years ago

Gloria Ferrer

Carneros Cuvée Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir 2007

My wife and I enjoyed this sparkling Blanc de Blanc/Noir with two close friends (Tom and Renee Stevenson) on our deck looking out on the water near St. Michaels, MD. The wine exploded into a creamy flood of aromatic bubbles with every sip, and proved the perfect foil for the dazzling array of both creamy and firm cheeses that our friends, both French Champagne lovers, knew would complement it. Gloria Ferrer is always a favorite stop when we visit the Napa/Sonoma area, both for the quality and diversity of their wine offerings, and the warm friendliness of the greeting that they always provide on their gorgeous elevated patio! — 6 years ago
