Fantastic wine! A lot of punch! From auvergne where Cedric and Fab are from. Rare and expensive ish — 5 years ago
We recently pulled some cases out of storage, which haven't seen the light of day for nearly 15 years, so I'll have some fun posts in the next several months.
Nose has dusty blackberry, tanned leather, ripe plum, black tea, dark chocolate chips, spring violets, grape Jolly Rancher candy; a total beast on the nose still after all these years!
Palate has ripe blackberry, over-ripe plum, dried orange peel, cocoa powder, ground coffee, dried cherry; massive tannins with a tremendously long finish.
Wow, we feel like this bottle is only 5-6 years old, so fresh in the glass at about 21 years past vintage. This needs at least another 10+ years of relaxing. We have a bunch of Brunello, and I'm constantly confirming they mostly need ~30 years. The Vince Wilfork of wines tonight, immovable force. Decanted 4 hours, paired with long braised lamb shanks over Parmesan polenta, perfect pairing, should try this again in 2030...
24 Hour Update: Nose is a mix of black fruits and a light olive tapenade. Palate is a gentle giant, tannins mostly resolved, ripe plum, shaved dark chocolate and dried orange peel. Just a beautiful wine tonight, it likely won't see tomorrow. — 6 years ago

Never really listened to Magma but this is cool — 9 years ago
A very happy find, this grenache/syrah blend. It's heavy on the cassis, licorice, and stone. Some blood orange on the bitter-ish finish. But, not unpleasant in any way. I agree with Scott's note: This wine does go down softer than most CDR's. @Scott@Mister A’s-San Diego

Not shockingly, this needed a sec to blow off some sulfur but was more structured than I excepted — 4 years ago
Light, chillable red with fruit notes. Had 1.5 bottles during dinner at Adarra with Vince. There is no wine list so this was the option when “light, chilled” red was requested. — 5 years ago

Grilled lemons, green herbs, acid, mineral, savory finish... lovely sunshine juice. — 7 years ago
The twins. Vince & Cheney Vidrine. These wines are gone, Vince took an assistant winemaker position with Domaine Serene and they made him ditch the brand. Cheney was an assistant winemaker with Union Wine Company.Dont think either is with those companies any longer, last I heard they are in Southern Oregon. Have no idea if it’s true. Damn shame, this was one of the most exciting projects in the valley before it went sideways.
Crazy interesting to see how this has evolved. This is insanely reductive winemaking that opens in front of your eyes to dark red fruit with structure and balance. Popped the bottle and it was stinky as can be! Great stuff, glad I didn’t give up on this out of the gate and saw the opportunity that was coming. Wine is in a really interesting spot. Wish I had another bottle to see where this goes down the road — 8 years ago

Good wine & would buy again. Peachy flavor. Not too sweet. Very crisp. Vince isn’t a fan, but I like it. — 4 years ago
exquisite tension with some luscious orchard fruits, hazelnuts and minerality 🤌 this + scallops = vince carter circa 2000 dunk contest game 👏🏼 over 👏🏼 — 5 years ago
Perfect glou glou. Just complex enough to make it interesting but still incredibly easy to take down a bottle quickly. — 6 years ago

My buddy vince could chug this wine. In other words it's smooth sailing. — 9 years ago

I don't really need to post this anymore because I drink it frequently and it's always great. Introduced our friend Val to Vajra tonight, though, and that is super fun!
