Jema Veneto Corvina 2017

Another solid vintage of this 100% Corvina gem. Dark purple/ruby color. Aromas of ripe and cooked red fruit, burnt chocolate, cola and purple flowers. Flavors of cherry compote, red currants, cocoa powder, coffee and black pepper spice. Long and luxurious finish with some sweet oak overtones. Rich, dense, complex and plush. Tannins are so smooth. Easy drinker that can handle a chill. Not quite as outgoing as the stellar 2016 Vintage but still quite good. Thanks for bringing this one out at the New Year’s Day brunch, Keith S! — 7 days ago

Liano Sangiovese Cabernet Sauvignon

2022 vintage.
A great combination of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Bright red plum, dark red fruit, herbal and bay leaf.
Grippy tannins and a crisp finish.
BBQ chicken would love this wine.

Mara Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore Corvina Blend 2018

Dark red color with a copper tinge. Aromas of dark red fruit. Medium body. Entry has a hint of sweetness. Dry with dark cherry, tobacco, little coffee notes. Very bright acidity for such an old wine brings it to a perfect balance. Tannins are there, but well balanced. Excellent wine.

Riserva Bramaterra Nebbiolo Blend 2000

Tenuta Monolo (Umberto Gilodi); Riserva Piedmont; Bramaterra, Italy

Far better than prior bottles of 2000 a year or so ago, I'm now convinced those earlier bottles were flawed in some fashion.
