Giato Sicilia Nero d'Avola - Perricone Blend

John H. You are right - a great find. I was able to get it on sale for 14$. Let’s hope the 2020 is as good Italian‘s are often inconsistent. Raspberry, blueberry spot same as you. Don’t get the pepper and the wine is not too tart but pleasant. To bad sold out at the Wine House in LA. A little light but for 14$ who cares great juice. — 13 days ago

Feudo Montoni

Masso Catarratto 2019

Made from Catarratto, medium lemon color with aromas of stone and citrus fruits with herb spice. On the palate flavors of lemon, apricot and crisp apple with floral, smoke and herb notes. Well balanced with acidity, medium+ finish, ending with citrus fruits and mineral tang. — 17 days ago

Contrada S Terre Siciliane Nerello Mascalese 2013

Perfect after 9 years in bottle. Burgundian dark cherry notes, muted tannins, smooth with no mustiness. I personally still prefer a touch of added cappuccio like my fave Terre Nere. — 5 days ago

Il Censo

Praruar Terre Siciliane Catarratto 2017

Allspice (and literally all spice) on the attack. Apricot, bruised apple and floral on the mid palate; silty clay and olive brine on the finish. To be honest, the tannins + alcohol (14.5%) this vintage are a bit strong for me—especially without food, but excellent with garlicky /anchovy pasta (night 1) and cinnamony / gingery daal (night 1). As you can from by the familiar label, these guys are acolytes of Paolo Bea. — 12 days ago
