Benguela Cove

'Cuvee 58' MCC Methode Cap Classique White Blend

Cheers to South African bubbles!!!

This delicious wine is a medium lemon hue. It offers a foundation of starfruit, kumquat, lemon pith, green apple, pear, and herbaceous-y notes of grass.

The Sauvignon Blanc expresses itself delicately and elegantly which is blended with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

As the wine opens, aromas of stargazer lily and white blossom emerge alongside secondary notes of frozen pie crust, bread dough, and biscuit.

This bottle of bubbles is produced using the Méthode Cap Classique which follows the ‘traditional method’ used for producing sparkling wines of Champagne 🥂 🍾

Benguela Cove, Cuvée 58, Walker Bay, Estate Wine, 12.5% ABV (NV).

Tedeschi Family Winery

Brother's Blend Napa Valley Red Blend 2019

We drank this back-to-back with the Tedeschi Stargazer Merlot. The Brother's Blend had the same silky tannins, maybe not quite as long on the finish. Black cherry and spice. — 2 years ago

Maximin Grünhauser Abtsberg Spätlese Riesling 2017

Notes of dried orange peel, apricot marmalade, mango sorbet, honeycomb, honeysuckle, cherry blossom, stargazer lily, and peonies; smooth, and rich mouthfeel with a long finish. Definitely on the sweeter side. But wonderfully paired with a spicy Thai coconut soup and I suspect a versatile option for a myriad of spice- or heat-oriented dishes. Also could pair well with a dessert such as meringue, fresh raspberries, and sorbet...Vintage 2017. ABV 7.5%.

Albert Boxler

Réserve Alsace Gewürztraminer 2018

It’s no wonder Gewurztraminer is one of the four noble grape varieties in Alsace, France. 👏👏👏 It’s uniquely expressive, perfumed, rich, and oily with youthful and pronounced aromas 👃 of lychee, açaí, papaya, mango, pineapple, also sweet spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and rose, stargazer lily, elderflower, and wet stone. 🤩🤩🤩

👁 This wine is deep gold. 👄 It’s dry with a modicum of residual sugar. It has medium acidity, a medium(+) body, medium alcohol, and pronounced flavors, consistent with the nose, including notes of lychee, açaí, papaya, mango, pineapple, also sweet spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and rose, stargazer lily, elderflower, and wet stone. The finish is medium(+).

We’ve paired this wine with grilled vegan brats and roasted zucchini.

Albert Boxler, Gewurztraminer, Vintage 2018, ABV 13.5% (on the cusp of high alcohol).

Cheers to it almost being the weekend(?)!

One of my fave producers- always deep, nuanced but prices have become more prohibitive over the years, especially the Rieslings- May I ask how much your bottle was?@Vanessa

Vanessa

@Peter Sultan Of course! The price was $37.00. I bought it directly from Kermit Lynch’s e-commerce site.

Thanks@Vanessa ! Before Kermit, Boxler was part of Robert Chadderdon’s portfolio, before he sold it- his prices were rigidly set for Boxler. But these are exquisite wines, if not several notches more expensive, I think.
