Very fruity, tropical, white grape, a moderate acidity on the finish, mild sweetness. Awesome. — a month ago
Blend of Petite Sirah (86%), Syrah (6%), Grenache (5%) and 3% Other Rhône varietals. Dark ruby/purple color. Aromas of bramble berry fruit, violets, tobacco and earth. Cooked blackberry, blueberry, plum and black cherry fruit on the palate with additional flavors of vanilla, roasted herbs and baking spices. Silky tannins and a medium-plus finish. Nice depth and complexity. There is some intensity to this wine but it was not the powerhouse that I was expecting. Very pleasant and a solid value for a Napa red. — 2 months ago
Blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, 1% Cabernet Franc, and half a % each of Malbec and Merlot, aged 15 months in 33% new French oak, 51% of fruit from Atlas Peak District, deep Ruby with aromas of vibrant dark fruit, sweet spice and herbs. On the palate flavors of cherry and blackberry with tobacco spice, toasty oak, cinnamon and floral notes. Fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice, cedar, mocha and mineral character, Nice, should age well. — 20 days ago
An interesting Chard sourced from multiple sourcing in Napa Valley; Atlas Peak, Carneros, Coombsville and Oak Knoll, which makes a great integration and translating to your sense and palate a mild-intense style. However; this wine spent around 9 months with sur lies on wood barrels. Complex enough to pause and do multiple sips to appreciate it. Floral and white peach on the nose, the oaky notes are a bit too palpable from the very beginning. Nice acidity and intense mouthfeel with spices and vanilla combined. — a month ago

Founded in 1970 and considered one of the "first growths" of Napa Valley; blend of 76% Sauvignon Blanc, 19% Sauvignon Musque (a clonal variant of Sauvignon Blanc), 4% Muscat Canelli, 1% Semillon. Pale lemon with green edges, aromas of citrus and earthy herbs. On the palate flavors of apricot, mango and grapefruit flavors with ginger and lemongrass tones, crisp and fresh. Good mouthfeel medium finish ending with lively acidity. Nice, consistent quality! Pair with some crab cakes, wow! — a month ago
Really cool wine made by the same grapes as the Judgement of Paris winner! Vines have since been ripped out and replanted so a bit of history for sure! Figured the birth of our first child is a perfect time to open and celebrate! — a month ago
2001 | Cabernet Sauvignon
Stags Leap Wine Cellars; FAY
(94.83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3.74% Merlot, 1.43% Petit Verdot)
Napa Valley; California, USA
(92-94; Drink 2021-36)
Our second go at this bottle in about two years, notes consistent; perhaps this bottle was showing younger, suggest futures will drink well through 2036+.

Opened a couple hours prior and served double-blind. The wine pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core moving towards a slightly tawny rim; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of desiccated and ripe fruits: cassis, brambles, pipe tobacco, old leather bound books, dried mixed flowers, warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and rich. Initial conclusion is this is a Bordeaux-style blend from the United States or France but I felt this leaned more towards the quality of the fruit. So I called Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend from the United States, California, Napa Valley, 1986. Whoa…just about nailed it. This is showing very well. Drink now through 2030. — 19 days ago
