Sheldrake Point

Finger Lakes Dry Rosé Blend 2020

100% Finger Lakes Cabernet Franc Rose’. Beautiful salmon color. Aromas and flavors of cherry and blackberry along with touches of pepper spice, grilled poblano pepper and herbs. Acidity is well balanced. (Probably due to 6 grams of RS). Fresh, zesty and lively. Good aperitif. — a month ago

Les Picasses Chinon Cabernet Franc 2016

Low on the pyrazine scale. High on the earthy/balanced/elegance scale. Comes off a little bit shy at this point. Needs a two hour decant. Beautifully rustic. I like this better than the 2015. Better in 3-4 years. Good luck holding it. — a month ago

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2011

A really nice example of a SB that is not so hard on the crisp- really soft mouthfeel, quaffable and juicy — 3 months ago

Hemel-en-Aarde Valley Chardonnay 2020

Pale lemon color with aromas of stone and citrus fruits with notes of floral, oak and baking spice. On the palate flavors of ripe apple, pear and citrus flavors, lively acidity, notes of cinnamon and oak. Long finish, nice mouthfeel, ending with a creamy mineral tang and nutty character. Nice but needs some time! — 23 days ago

One Point Five Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Wine Wednesday mixed with work travel. Who doesn’t love a cute little half bottle? This wine gives you rich, lush, full bodied Napa style. Wish this was older than 2019, but sometimes you get what you get and you don’t pitch a fit.

The 2019 One Point Five is 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 3% Malbec, and 2% Petite Verdot.

Pairs best with anything after a day filled with questions and answers.

Dog Point Vineyard

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2021

Dog Point Vineyard combines experience of Ivan and Margaret Sutherland & James and Wendy Healy. Ivan and James met while working at Cloudy Bay Vineyards. Light straw with typical SB aromas adding a touch of floral mineral notes. On the palate flavors of melon and grapefruit with citrus and honeysuckle notes, generous acidity, great mouthfeel with long finish ending with a salty spice character. Exceptional wine! — a month ago

Nice red wine from Finger Lakes. Smooth and velvety, a little fruit, a little wood. Easy to sip and pairs well with cheese. — 2 months ago
