Montelero Toscana Sangiovese 2005

[Tasted On October 26, 2018 at Home]

Purchased at the winery during visit to Tuscany in 2010. IGT wine is Sangiovese-dominated with 10% Colorino del Valdarno (gives the blend a darker, inkier color). Wine also has some brick orange tones showing its age. Unfortunately, wine was tasted past its prime. Wine tasted oxidized with flavors of dried raisins, tobacco and some iron. I had tasted another bottle of this wine several years ago when the fruit was more lively and recall that it was an enjoyable Sangiovese blend.

Secretum Rosé 2009

[Tasted on November 19, 2017 at Home]

Purchased in August 2010 during visit to winery. Despite its age, wine remains fresh and vibrant. Sangiovese IGT. Salmon color. Nice strawberry fruit and acidity. Not overly complex, but very drinkable.

S'A Syrah 2008

Caitlin's graduation - wine #1 of the night, opened an hour before. This syrah came back with us from our visit to the winery in Italy. Absolutely worthy of the special occasion. Smooth, supple with a nice medium finish. Perfect opening wine for the evening. — 6 years ago

Bought outs in 2010. Drank 2015. Kept great and was amazing. Better than when we tasted at the winery. — 9 years ago
