The nose is stunning, captivatingly aromatic after a few hours in the decanter, layered with Northern Rhône classicism of blackberry, camphor and bacon fat. Deep purple in color with a short purple rim.

Pretty nose with wild flowers, red and black fruits, light oak, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, spices, dark chocolates, barnyard, light earth, herbs, licorice and black pepper.

Full-bodied and smooth with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with cherries, raspberries, spices, light oak, licorice, dark chocolates, earth, tobacco, tar, vegetables, bitter herbs and peppercorn.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This 9 year old Syrah from Northern Rhône is drinking very nicely now. Rich and fruit forward.

Extracted and in your face kind of wine. A little stinky, in a good way, as expected. Complex, elegant and smooth.

Peaking now and will continue to drink nicely in the next 7 years.

Good right out of the bottle and better with airtime. I had the 2016 not too long ago, and liked it better.

Good by itself and better with food.

The back label says 15.5% but I am digging this nonetheless. Nose has spiced dark berry fruit of pristine purity. There’s also a bit of crushed rock and fresh green herbs. In the mouth it’s so deep and flavorful. I don’t think I’d be able to say it’s over 15 if served this blind. Length for days. Delicious. — 7 days ago

Very dark blackish rubi robe, nose of cassis, asian spices, blackcurrant and cedar, with a hint of flowers. Too hot a vintage and not to our taste, but the wine is light on its feet, fresh and quite elegant for the concentration. This is top notch and highly recommended. — 14 days ago
