Plum Creek

Château Clos L'Eglise

Pomerol Merlot - Cabernet Franc Blend 1998

A beautiful wine in every way! Garnet in color, with medium (+) intensity of aromas and flavors including potpourri, fig, plum sauce, cassis, violet, licorice, pencil shavings, cedar, clove, anise, leather, sweet tobacco, bell pepper, cardamom, forest floor… medium acidity, medium (+) tannins that are soft and fine-grained, medium alcohol and a long elegant finish. 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 — 23 days ago

@David T This wine was in a very beautiful and settled place. It had complexity for days. We really enjoyed it. This decanter is our friend’s — it’s stunning! We’d love to get one ourselves. Cheers! 🥂

Penfolds

Bin 389 South Australia Cabernet Shiraz 2021

Deep purple , thin pink rim . Quite perfumed , floral , mint , herbaceous character , cassis and blackberry . Quite rich with sweet dark fruits on the palate , plum , cherry , blueberry , blackberry . Balanced acidity and spicy dark fruited finish , slightly meaty , medium length finish . This is needs time in order to round out the tannins , better in 5 years and will last well a further 10-15. — 2 months ago

Vieux Château Certan

Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2004

Delectable Wine
9.3

The 2004 Vieux Château Certan was picked starting September 20. This is a little fuller on the nose compared to the 2002, with more fruit concentration, red plum and raspberry, wilted rose petals and a touch of thyme. This is very endearing and open, yet there is vigor. The palate is well-balanced with finely chiseled tannins. While not the most complex vintages of this decade, it is very well-balanced with a fine bead of acidity, lightly spiced with a dash of cracked black pepper on the finish. I have admired this Pomerol since first tasting it from barrel, and I still do. Drink now or over the next 12 to 15 years. Tasted at the VCC vertical in Etikhove, Belgium. Château Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1999

Medium ruby , quite wide garnet , terracotta rim . Quite spiced tobacco , red focused sous bois , warm spice , coffee and cacao , a little foursquare , rustic perhaps . On the palate better , quite juicy and rounded , spiced red plum , dark cherry , dry spice . This becomes more saline with time in the glass, balanced acidity and some slightly gritty tannins. This is probably in the middle of its drinking window , and will remain here over the next 5-10 years perhaps. Within the context of Haut Brion , this perhaps is just a little below par . — a month ago

Beaulieu Vineyard

Private Reserve Georges de Latour Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 1980

Decant for sediment(lots of fine/cloudy sediment) and pour. A majestic tawny dark red color. On the nose: sweet port like with dried plum/cherry, herbaceous, rich soil, mushroom, pepper. Taste: Amazing! juicy, refined, balanced, savory wine with dried cherry, black raspberry, earth, tobacco, mint, and a nice mocha baking spice medium plus finish. YUM! Still delivering at 44 years, and glad to have a few more bottles. — 2 months ago

Opus One

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2001

The 2001 Opus One is a masterful blend that truly embodies the elegance and structure of Napa Valley wines. The deep ruby color is immediately captivating, and the nose opens with rich aromas of black currant, dark cherries, and subtle hints of tobacco and cedar. On the palate, it delivers an impeccably balanced experience, with layers of ripe blackberry, plum, and a touch of dark chocolate, all interwoven with earthy undertones and a refined minerality. — a month ago

Deep ruby coloration. No translucency. On the nose, blackberry, black cherry, plum, leather and florals. On the palate, complex and layered, with strong minerality, florals, spice, black cherry, plum and black berry with long finish of fruit and florals. Full bodied and balanced tannins. — 2 months ago

Château Latour

Premier Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1995

1995 vintage. High fill and great cork. Used a Durand. Opened but not decanted. Throwing slightly less sediment than expected. Tasted one hour after opening. Medium body. Cassis, graphite, dark plum and spring mud in the nose. All this plus an appearance of cedar and relatively fresh tobacco notes in the tasting profile. Tapered and muscular with zero fat. No flighty components evident so nothing to wax/wane over the next decade. Fairly unified now and for the foreseeable future. 8.16.24. — 3 months ago

Château Malescot St. Exupéry

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

We had the 2006 Vintage on 7/27-28/24. A nice Old World, medium to full bodied wine with a long finish. Scents and a palate of blackberry, black cherry, plum, graphite and camphor. The tannins were fine and smoothed out with aeration. A very good wine. — 3 months ago
