No. 99 Estate Series Niagara Peninsula Shiraz Cabernet Blend 2018

This is the 2018 Wayne Gretzky Estate No. 99 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon. From the Niagra Peninsula VQA Winona, Ontario. This is a blend of 58% Shiraz, 41% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Viognier.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black plum, lack currant, matchsticks, spice, black pepper and earth.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, smokey oak, spice, black pepper, pencil lead and earth.

This is a full bodied wine with a smooth mouthfeel medium to medium+ acidity and medium to medium + fine tannins that goes into a medium to long dark fruit pencil lead finish. I am feeling much better moving into a new week and looking forward to a having a great time. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Cave Spring

Dolomite Beamsville Bench Cabernet Franc 2019

Has the usual characteristics of Niagra wine - high acidity, sweet aftertaste that lingers slightly too long, but in this full bodied, funky and slightly mineral heavy cab franc it manages to compliment rather than overwhelm. One of the better regional reds available without spending a small fortune. β€” 2 years ago

Cave Spring

Estate Beamsville Bench Riesling 2015

β€œCellared” from a trip to Niagra in early 2018 on the way back from a trip to Uganda, quarantine and Nat’l Grilled Cheese day was a good reason to bust it out. β€” 5 years ago

Cave Spring

Cave Spring Vineyard Estate Bottled Cabernet Franc 2015

Yesterday evening I opened the 2015 Cave Spring Estate Cabernet Franc Beamsville Bench Niagra Escarpment.

On the nose was cherry, strawberry, raspberry, mint and smokey oak.

The palate had notes of strawberry, raspberry, red currant, green bell pepper, herbs, cinnamon and smokey oak.

This wine is medium bodied with medium to + acidity and medium fine tannins that leads to a medium to long fruit finish. Not as impressed as the 2012 that I had awhile back. Enjoy the weekend and be safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Niagara River Vidal Icewine 2007

Niagra ice wine. Plummy and sweet, viscous and fruity, rich and creamy. Spectacular dessert wine and fabulous when mixed with vodka and garnished with a frozen grape in the form of an ice wine martini β€” 5 years ago
