I had an ‘09 hanging around, aged very well for an inexpensive wine. Deep Ruby with dark edges. Aromas of berry fruit, complex spice, a touch earthy. On the palate, ripe Cherry and blackberry fruits with sweet and peppery spice. Nice approachable tannins that opened up quickly. Good balance and good length. Very Nice. — 2 months ago
2007 Marques de Murroeta Castillo Ygay Rioja. Ordered off the list at Kokk in SF bc the bottle of ‘94 Artadi we brought was a bad bottle. Decanted this, but still just way too big. Stuck to the mouth; big, juicy red fruit flavor (plum jam). Infanticide. — 3 months ago
Bold wine as a Rioja should be, still a little to young for me but very pleasant. Nice spice, black fruit and some hints of tobacco and hay — 4 months ago
Mellow and subtle, but everything a Champagne should be: yeasty, a touch of lemon, and a touch of green apple. — 2 months ago
The 2015 ‘Reserva’ by Marques de Caceres follows up the fantastic 2014 bottling. Sourced from this exciting warm vintage in Rioja, the wine opens with layers of red and dark fruits that are woven together with suggestions of orange rind, coffee ground and milk chocolate tones that all take shape in the glass. The silky texture entices. Black tea and Asian spices brilliantly combine with leather, damp earth and a good core of black fruits on this expressive palate. The long black fruit and mineral-driven finish lingers long on the tongue. While a delight to savor right now, the 2015 Marques de Caceres ‘Reserva’ Rioja will evolve well in the cellar for decades to come. Drink 2020-2035- 92 — 2 months ago
A bit disappointing. Oak still sticking out and a bit of extra sweetness. — 4 months ago
Full body red fruit. Vanilla and red fruits. — 3 months ago
Focused & with pure fruit. White peach and citrus fruits with brioche aromas and nuances of fig tart. Taut yet with a silky texture, frothy bubbles & a long finish. Love the juicy acidity and low dosage.
This is a v. nice grower champagne with character. Much better vs the usual Grand Marques.
