Maison Pettermann, Rosacker Alsace Grand Cru Pinot Gris 2019
This is an off dry wine but wow, this is great and this is probably the best pinot gris I have ever tried. We paired it with egg fried rice with a healthy dose of chilli oil in it (quite hot even for my standards), fish sauce and sesame oil, and it held its ground very nicely. What a pairing! I served it a cellar temperature so about 14 degrees Celsius. The nose shows really nice notes of ripe pear, white flowers and maybe rose petals (?) and a tiny touch of zest. The palate is absolutely lovely with a great acid drive and a nice width, a very soft and lovely, cushiony mouthfeel, a bright pear note all along that continues in the end along with those tiny zesty touches that come back. This is a great expression, especially along an homemade egg fried rice plate ✌🏻 — 4 years ago
