Never tasted this bottling before, I just hoped for a decent showing. Instead, it completely reshaped my view of Barbera.
Deep opaque garnet with a slight tawny rim. The nose is captivating with blackberry jam, fig, cedar, dry pine cone, worn leather, clove, and a hint of truffle. Seamless palate - full body with vibrant acidity, supple tannins that still have firm grip, and a velvety texture. Long, elegant finish. Still has 5–8 graceful years ahead. By far the best Barbera I’ve tasted.
2022 vintage. Medium/medium heavy body. Very nice but this was lacking the front and mid palate richness of the previous vintage. 06.18.25. — 15 days ago
One of my favorite vintners. Lots of good acids and bitey tannins. Some leather, raspberry and cherry, brambles, black pepper, touch of graphite? From Big Nose Full Body. 04/12/25 — 3 months ago
Some blackberry, Smokey notes, so soft in the mouth. Went very well with risotto and sausage. I have to think that’s the pairing in Piedmont for most people. The average Italian there ain’t drinking Barbaresco every night. — 2 months ago
