Superiore Barbera d'Alba 2015

Nose has washed cherries, sliced cherries, wet violets, old licorice candy and tanned leather. A trailing note of alcohol heat, but seems to be dissipating with more air. (14% ABV)

Palate has sweetened-dried cherries, well stored cigar, dry-crushed granite and moist soil. Velvety smooth, yet energetic on the finish (velvet Elvis painting comes to mind), minerals linger on the very long finish. Classy. Decanted +2H.

Dolcetto d'Alba 2018

Beautiful consistent deep red colour, lovely balance on the palate with a well assembled rosehip taste. Very good, old school dolcetto and among the best I’ve tasted. It’s higher price puts it against mi-level Barbera or entry level Barolo and it’s likely more e notable than either. — 8 hours ago

Fruit: cherry, raspberry
Body: medium to full

Food Pairing: I had this wine with sausage and caramelized onions pizza pie. It went so perfectly!

Munfrina Dolcetto d'Alba 2016

Licorice, tar, blackberries, cherry and a bit of almond on the nose. This is great! The palate is very lovely with some strong acid backbone, a nice tangy cherry all along, a good width with a lovely matter on the sides. It's not thick, it's rather light but very playful and fruity. Some tannins kick in in mid palate which give a bit of a drying effect in a mid palate sphere. It's quite round in there! The finish is all fruits, a bit of bitterness and thee tannins drying up a notch. Very lovely and joyful wine. — 15 days ago

Seems like this wanted more time. Mostly closed but decent stuffing. — 7 days ago

AB Normal Barbera d'Alba 2014

Fairly transparent for Barbera and light in alcohol at 13.5%. Lovely bright nose, ripe of red cherry with a floral twist. On the palate it tastes quite evolved with a secondary profile that is very appealing. Could almost pass for a barolo. Probably best Barbera I’ve tried and better than the Burlotto Aves and Vietti Scarrone tried alongside. — 7 days ago

Leather and citrus peel, dried flowers and sage. Fennel seeds and a core of strawberry fruit. Great acidity and very restrained tannins. — 3 days ago

Terrific nose of spice and incense with a smokey berry fruited background. Mineral and elegant. Deep and not majorly fruity at all. Why I like the nose. Palate is fresh, juicy and spicy. Elegant with nice berry fruit. Classic Barbera. — 12 days ago

The Barbera bottling edges out the Dolcetto in the same vintage. Smooth/rounded mouthfeel, cherries, mild spice. — 4 days ago
