I opened this for whatever reason. Anyway, big, enveloping, youthful and grapey nose, grape jelly, mineral and raspberry coulis. Smells very ripe but shows the class of CDC. But jammy but classy jam. Palate is a classic 18. Massive and I mean Herculaneun with huge extract, stoney tannins, good freshness and massive massive minerals. Long finish but my goodness this is super duper young. Lol, 18 clos des chenes and I call myself a wine professional. 9.2 on pleasure and 9.8 on potential. I’ll settle in at a 9.5 — 8 months ago

The second wine of Chateau Pavie Macquin. Popped and poured, this needed at least 90 minutes to even begin to open up. In the glass, dark ruby with a nearly opaque core. Medium+ viscosity. On the nose, medium intensity with dark cherries, some purple flowers and freshly tilled earth. On the palate, dark cherries, plums, tobacco, and earth. Medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Long and satisfying finish. Drink now with patience or hold for the next 10 years, easy. — 3 years ago

Haunting Chenes nose. That combo of ethereal fruit and pulverized rock dust. God damn this nose is complex. Wow. Wood shavings. Tree bark. Just insanely complex. The breeding comes through. Long, juicy and Stoney. Really long. So grippy. So rocky. This is oozing class. — 3 years ago

Roots of Leflaive family go back to 1717 when Claude Leflaive took up residence in Puligny-Montrachet. Straw yellow color with rich stone fruits, floral and biscuit notes. On the palate flavors of apple, peach and ripe pear with citrus, biscuit notes and gentle spice, great mouthfeel. Long finish ending with fruit, vanilla and a mineral tang. Nice! — 7 months ago
