Le Bruciate Riserva Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2001

This wine is almost old enough to drink wine (in the U.S.)! Saluti! ๐Ÿท

It hails from the Brunello di Montalcino DOCG region of Tuscany, Italy. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

It was produced from vines planted at 2,000 ft altitude above sea level. ๐Ÿ” It aged 4 years before release to the market, 3 of which were in oak casks and six months of which were in the bottle that sits before us right now. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ

This wine is made from 100% Sangiovese, a grape, especially with the Brunello clone, that is known to produce a powerful wine with naturally high acidity, firm tannins, and expressive aromatics (built to age). ๐Ÿ‡

I could see it being an excellent pairing with roasted red meats or savory pasta dishes. ๐Ÿฅ˜

It has a deep garnet hue. ๐Ÿ‘ Its nose offers developed aromas of baked black cherry, dried fig, sweet balsamic, roasted tomato, sandalwood, clove, nutmeg, cigar, tobacco, leather, mushroom, forest floor, and earth. ๐Ÿ‘ƒ

On the palate this wine is dry, it has medium+ acidity, a medium body, medium alcohol, and medium(+) tannins, along with medium(+) flavors consistent with the nose. The finish lingers. ๐Ÿ‘„

What an opportunity to buy this aged beauty from Jimโ€™s basement. Thank you, @h_obf @sommnow ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010

At first slightly acidic. We then put it through a decanter and it really opened up. Lots of black cherry with an oaky finish. Very nice brunello for a good price โ€” 8 years ago
