Les Champs Fulliots Monthelie 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2017

Do NOT Pop and pour. Needs an hour decant. Honestly needs 2 years.

Nose: dense cherry fruit with some cherry licorice. Still integrating the oak. Not over the top but present. The true aromatics flit in and out.

Palate dense structured cherry fruit.

I’m guessing that this will be VERY good in 2 years. Maybe 9.4ish.

Bought from fass selections.

Grande Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Chambertin-Clos de Bèze Pinot Noir 1999

1999 vintage. A taste graciously provided by Mr. Bill Bender. Still packing a punch. Nicely balanced with tons of fruit and lengthy finish. Possibly at the top of the bell curve. — 10 days ago

Great seeing you @Scott Rose the Laurent was definitely still all there.

Hauterives Crozes Hermitage Syrah 2018

Dark juicy plums is the first impression out of the gate. There’s a cassis thing going on here...just don’t know where to place it. Finishes off with some lovely and chewy light-weight tannins. Wait around long enough and smoked bacon is definitely part of the mix. Not a hint of heat at 14.5% ABV. Its unabashed youthfulness is a finger in the eye to its more serious—but expensive—Hermitage sister. Buy a case and drink over the next five years. It won’t get much better but who cares? It’s already there. — 5 days ago

Ricci Vineyard St. Laurent 2019

Michael Cruse, Maestro of CO2. Pet Nat of the grape, Saint Laurent. It’s off dry (slightly sweet) and pours thick and heady like a Belgian beer.

Soft aromatics of peaches and cream. Tastes like peach rings and pear soda and table grapes.

Laurent Combier Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2019

So much pleasure with this 2019 cuvée! Always this exquisite balance between freshness / fruity (black: blueberries, blackberries) and the fleshy notes of well-crafted organic Syrah: menthol, liquorice, white pepper, tapenade. All enhanced with violet-type floral notes. One of the finest expressions of Croze, at less than € 20 (in France)
