Mother’s day lunch.
Not a vintage we like but this one is excellent. Dark rubi robe, no signs of aging. Nose of asphalt, cedar, anise and blackcurrant. Very elegant fruit tannin and a bit of wood tannin to shed still, would be better with less. An extracted wine done with lots of wood but balanced and elegant same time. We liked it a lot. Increased the score after the last couple of glasses we got around 8 hours later. — 8 days ago

Even more fantastic than the previous bottle of 2010 I enjoyed a year ago. Decanted and enjoyed over 7 hours. This was good from first pour but became great and then magnificent over the next 3.5 and 7 hours. It was still full of verve on the last sip! Early only it was more dark fruit but over time the wines softened and became a bit sweeter and rounder. Tremendous length and complexity. — 2 months ago

One of my bottles from my annual WWC hosting. Part of a Grenache flight (including ‘19 Rotie Cellars “Big G”, ‘19 Saint-Damien Souteyrades Gigondas, ‘18 Andremily Grenache).

Last of a three-pack.

I’m a little surprised at the average score here, but wonder if it has to do with the aromatics presenting a little cru-Beaujolais like (borderline partial carbonic fermentation type aromatics). Bright, juicy, crunchy Grenache. Light ruby colored in the glass with potpurri, candied raspberries, faint spiced rhubarb on the nose. Crisp, juicy red and black berry fruit with a savory/mineral iron type note toward the finish. It’s light, tangy, crunchy and expressive. I’m sure these age wonderfully but it’s tasty right now. Great pairing with grilled quail! — 20 days ago

Drum-tight presentation throughout. Nose presents sirop de cassis and blueberry pie. For a 15 vintage, this still presents as premature.
Palate is a dream. Laser-focused and broad shouldered. Zero tertiary notes on the palate, just rich dark fruits and muscular tannins. Yours truly had to get in on the action here. Thanks to Drew for opening up his cellar! — 2 months ago

From a 5 liter bottle at Smith & Wollensky for WINE WEEK. What a deal and fun Friday afternoon

This wine had very good bright fruit flavors. Minimum tannins. A touch of acidity that was needed to keep it from being too juicy.
