Didn't really show up to play tonight. Perhaps some air will improve. Very closed and one dimensional. Off bottle? Day 2 & 3: Ok here we go. Compote, leather, earth, garrigue, violet, sweet spices, forest, animal. Needs time. Maintains a certain richness while expressing a sense of elegance. — 8 years ago
17.5+ rich golden colour. Legs. Honey and white fruit nose. V full on palate, remarkably long. It's a Rhone blend, but distinct from Hermitage and CNDP. Must buy more.

Popped and poured; see my notes from 2017. For real, not much has changed save for the gentle integration of more secondary characteristics. The 2005 “La Pèira” continues to be quite the charmer. A mix of ripe, dried and desiccated dark fruits, tobacco, leather, earth, and warm spices. Tannins are completely integrated. A wonderfully balanced wine and while I would recommend to drink now, it should continue to drink well throughout the remainder of the decade.
