Kukeri

Cuvée Ivonne Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2019

Kukeri Wines Russian River Valley Cuvée Ivonne Pinot Noir 2019, California

Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.

Fruity nose of cherries, raspberries, spices, light oak, chocolates, vanilla, licorice and black pepper.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity. Soft and smooth.

Dry on the palate with bing cherries, strawberries, raspberries, spices, light chocolates, oak, black pepper, licorice and light vanilla.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy raspberries.

This is a tasty Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley. Easy drinking with mild complexity. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel. Light and airy.

Still young, but already enjoyable, even by itself. Would be nice to see how this evolves in 3 to 5 years.

Good right out of the bottle. I gave it a light chill and paired it with a beautiful view.

100% Pinot Noir grapes were hand picked and aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (30% new). A small production of only 5 barrels made.

14.2% alcohol by volume.

90 points.

Rochioli Vineyard Chardonnay 2018

Delicate layers of Meyer lemon, Gravenstein apple and pear show an abundance on the palate, seasoned in salty oak, nutmeg and a hint of cardamom make this wine mind blowing! — 13 hours ago

Blind tasting of nine Rochioli single vineyard Pinots, three each from 2000, 2004 and 2006. Quite a bit of bret on this one divided our group. — a day ago

Domaine Willamette Valley Pinot Gris 2018

Medium lemon with tropical and citrus fruit aromas with spicy perfume notes. Palate shows ripe fruit flavors of peaches, pears, green apples,?citrus zest and gentle smoky notes. Medium finish good balance with acidity ending with ripe fruit character, floral and mineral spice. Has some aging benefit, but good now! — a day ago

East Block Pinot Noir 2000

Blind tasting of nine Rochioli single vineyard Pinots, three each from 2000, 2004 and 2006. Could not believe this was the 2000. Some (good IMHO) bret and powerful, I guessed wrongly that it was one of the younger ones. — 2 days ago

Xanadu

Margaret River Chardonnay 2014

Pale Lemon in colour. More in the lean style for Margaret River as compared to the richer “peaches and cream “ style of Cuvées like Leeuwin Art Series and Pierro. The oak has been judiciously dialled back not to overwhelm the more delicate fruit profile of citrus and grapefruit. Finished off with crisp acid. Would have liked a riper fruit profile from this good vintage. Perhaps picking a little later? — 8 days ago

Toscanacci Sonoma Red Blend 2013

ESF
9.1

Don’t recall the blend composition, but it’s showing beautifully w/such a pure fruit profile vacillating back & forth between cherry & blackberry. Some dusty edges, medicinal, white pepper & baking spices, decent heft w/well-integrated tannins. Maybe Sangiovese, Zinfandel & Merlot? Many years ahead w/off the showroom floor vibe @ 8 yrs old — 5 days ago

Russian River Valley Pinot Noir 2010

Celebrating a good day after a minor hiatus from the sauce. Just awesome. Lush, complex, elegant. Oozing with cherry, blueberry, cola, and baking spice. Supple tannins and a long finish. Maybe I should start writing in haiku to mix things up. — 5 days ago
