Medium ruby still , with some light bricking on the rim . Surprisingly open when opened , tobacco with mixed red fruits , truffle , grafite , lovely definition , touch of blackcurrant and marine , oyster shell . On the palate good weight and mostly ripe red fruits , almost like a fruit jelly in style , but with great acidity and balance , noticeable rounded fine tannins on the finish . Good length , tobacco and mineral notes . Great now , gets better , really grows in the glass . Now and for the next 15 years I would imagine . — 15 hours ago
Whoa...to my palate, these are drinking way better than they were upon release. Three years ago, I thought they drank okay...but seemed a little disjointed and wasn't really sure where it was going. This is in contrast to almost every vintage in the last 10 years which seemed to be very obvious where each were headed. Well, everything has come together really nicely and I think these are banging right now. This is a more round version of Produttori's "classico" with the 2015 vintage no-doubt contributing to its fleshiness. The acid and tannin you want and expect are well represented. A wonderfully balanced wine. I only swooped up one of the Riserva's (Montestefano) when they were released and sort of wonder if I overlooked 2015. Oh well, gonna enjoy what I have! Drink now (no decant) and through the next 10-15 years, no cap. An absolutely killer pairing with Morgan Ranch Wagyu Picanha... — a month ago
Kiwi, but only in the mouth. Then mango, sweet citric. Full flavour and some very far woody flavour. — a month ago
The 1996 Lafite-Rothschild is the strongest wine from the First Growth in that decade. This bottle, served blind and ex-château in Bordeaux, is so precociously backward that I estimate it to be half its age. Blackberry, cedar and graphite are here as usual, though this bottle has even more intensity than the one served at the estate in 2018. The palate is brilliantly balanced with fine tannins and very intense graphite-infused fruit; there's just a touch more fruité on the finish. Superb. (Neal Martin, Vinous, January 2023) — 5 days ago
Not quite cutting it. A wee bit young but for me a also too much Cab Franc. Just a personal preference but the level of pucker was a tad high. Finish was short and the fruit limited. As my wife said. There just wasn’t much fun in this one. I will wait and try another day. — 24 days ago
1.5 hour decant(little fine/cloudy sediment). A majestic deep ruby red color. On the nose: perfumed nose of plum, smoked meat, old leather, eucalyptus, burnt cedar, green veggie. Taste: smooth, slightly creamy, elegant, structured wine with black plum, currants, herbaceous, nutty chocolate, leather, graphite and a long peppery savory dry finish. YUM!
The financial crisis and excess wine to sell had the 08 1st growths all priced less than $200 a bottle so I bought a bunch. At 15 years, it's finally time to check em all out. This Mouton is a nice start. — 3 days ago

v96. Amazing 27 year old. Very good! Soft belt leather and dried herb nose. Fresh, juicy, deep, cherry and plum fruit. Velvety smooth, long, black pepper and mocha finish. Nicely balanced. — 5 days ago
