This was a gratuitous pairing favoring a more impressive wine over the right wine. Paired with grilled chicken and lemon polenta over a sliced onion pan sauce. Bordering garnet. Lots of pruney, stewed fruit pointing to a hot vintage (15.5% abv.)
Ripe and spicy tobacco, leather, and fig jam. From magnum and ready to drink. 750’s likely on the decline. Sustainable. — 2 months ago
Wonderful wine. One of my favorite vineyards. This is always a high quality wine. This one is still young but getting its legs. Vibrant and fresh if not yet rounded out. There is complexity that will only build. The length is good now but I know will be significantly longer in near term. Cherry. Fig. Eucalyptus. Loved this wine. Looking forward to sampling the next few I have over ensuing decade. — 4 months ago
When I’m not drinking a Napa Cab, I reach for a Jordon. Blend of 80% Cab Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot & 2% Malbec, aged 13 months in 100% French oak (35% new). Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruit, floral and an array of herb spices. On the palate flavors of cherry, blackberry and fig with oak, vanilla spice, leather and cacao notes. Rich fine tannins, well balanced and integrated with fruit and oak. Very Nice! Will age well. Just had this with a fillet mignon, Nice! — 7 days ago
So pretty outstanding for the $22 I paid. Clocking in at Napa-level 15.5% ABV, you can nonetheless discern the soil and fig notes. Beefy, satisfying wine at great CBR. From Lower Falls WS. — 2 months ago
One of my favorite CdP producers. I opened this alongside a buddy’s 2009 CSJ Deus Ex Machina and it was really intriguing to see the differences.
60 Grenache/20 Syrah/remainder a blend.
Quick bottle decant before diving in. While ready to go, an hour full-decant would probably be a good call at this stage, but not required. Where the Ex Machina was more high toned and layered (thanks to the blend), this was more up-front and plush. Violets and spiced berry compote aromatically. Dark berry fruit, sweet pipe tobacco and fig dominate the palate. Extremely concentrated (not extracted), with a savory graphite profile at the finish. Would have sworn Mourvèdre was heavy in this. Delicious. 93+ — 6 months ago
Established in the village of Marsannay in the 1960's by Bernard Coillot, father of owner Christophe Coillot. Deep Ruby red color with aromas of ripe berry fruit and spice. On the palate flavors of ripe cherry and blackberry with notes of fig, mushroom and spice. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit, spice and earthy mineral character. Very Nice! — 2 months ago
Golden hue. Aromas of apple, dried fig, golden raisin, honey, orange zest, peach. Full body and high acid. Mouth-coating and creamy texture on palate, with a slight mineral finish that begs for refills. Rich, decadent and delicious. 90% Semillon, 8% Sauvignon Blanc, 2% Muscadelle. — 3 months ago

Very good but somehow not as great as I remembered. Maybe what we drank before tainted it. Maybe it went a little long in bottle. — 19 days ago
