Sehr dunkles Rubinrot, die Nase noch etwas verhalten, Noten von Pfeffer, Erde, Cassis und Pflaume, am Gaumen wuchtig mit viel Konzentration, deutliche Holznoten, ein kraftvoller Wein.

The Planeta family have been making wines in Sicily since the 1600s. Cometa, comprised of 100% Fiano grapes, comes from Ulmo, the family’s first winery situated on the banks of the Arancio Lake in eastern Sicily. The deep and chalky soil is perfect for this ancient grape variety to thrive in. Cometa is an intense, yet elegant white wine with a wide range of aromas like lychees, nectarines, mandarin, peppermint and hints of chamomile and wild thyme. No detailed notes on these wines drank at Restaurants in Italy. More a record of what we had. This was a nice change from a regular diet of Sangiovese to Nero d’Avola - medium to full bodied with dry cherry and texture. — 8 months ago

Aromas - Almond, apple and a little bit of custard. Lovely in the mouth, slightly oily, a bit of acidity and some peach stone bitterness. Plenty to it for the money.

Ps (read the label after making this note - the label says papaya and I can see that - a papaya is also known as pawpaw or 'custard-apple', however in reality as well as tasting of apples and custard, papayas taste of sewage). — 3 years ago
