Very fruity. Lots of plum flavor. The tanning is not overly power. The length is abundant but not crazily long. — 6 years ago
And then God created the perfect wine. Its soul was part St. Aubin, part Albariño. Its body was svelte, with liquid curves and a frisson of feral charm. Pear and apple, hay and jicama. Rainwater and mineral, some juicy white peach and orange essence. A cool cheesy note. Style. One of those uncanny wines that works with lighter or heartier fare, charming all along the way. Let's just drink this one, shall we? 🔝 — 10 years ago
This is purchased fruit from dutton ranch wente cline a very rich Cali style Chardonnay with a nice touch of lightly toasted oak spice. Wayne donelson is making the wines — 12 years ago
380 cases, new vintage. Light yellow, excellent clarity. Not much aroma, floral and orchard fruit, perhaps, but great flavor length - peach, apple, citrus with a mineral finish. Some viscosity, rounded mouthfeel with light skin astringency frisson, ooh. It has what an old vine Chenin Blanc should have: complexity and character. Very fresh and lively, good acidity and flavor. — 3 years ago

This wine is still one of the most off-the-wall delicious California wines I've ever had. I am required to order it any time I see it on a wine list because it basically doesn't exist. At 10.9% alcohol, you'd expect something wan and featherweight, but the 6+ months (I think) of skin contact have yielded a thought-provoking wine of profound character. Ganevat's sous voile wines come to mind in terms of vibrancy, but there's something much more friendly about it. The aromas center on this exotic tangerine and yuzu pithiness, backed up by floral jasmine, camomile, and white tea notes. There's a bit of tannin and a mildly acetic quality that reminds me of really great champagne vinegar. The acid kicks and powers a very long finish. There's something ineffable and polychromatic about this wine that defies definition. It's such a particular (possibly unrepeatable) marriage of people, vintage, grape variety and place. Full of frisson if you're ready to listen. Bravo, @Steve Matthiasson and Jill! — 11 years ago

Excellent. $40 at First Bottle, marked down from $100. Would buy again at that price. Jill and Eric both liked it. Good complexity. — 5 years ago
