Irony & meaty, plum, potting soil, dark chocolate, dried rose and potpourri, slightly resinous, herbal, black liquorice, black pepper. — 7 days ago
Quite vegetal off the cork but opened up to beauty. — 5 days ago
No formal notes - this is the last of 6 bottles. Notes of mandarin and honeysuckle - luscious - the perfect Winter white. See previous Delectable notes. A regular purchase for me. More than 50% Viognier together with Roussanne and other Rhone white grapes. Amazing consistency considering Guigal makes over 700,000 bottles per year. — 6 days ago
Decanted for a few hours, then taken to Saison in SF. Tawny color with lite rims, mostly translucent. Deep powerful nose, with notes of red fruit, smoked meat, dry brush, Asian spice, pepper, dark moist soil and a little menthol. Rich, silky and intense in the mouth. Long finish. Great juice. — 23 days ago
Lovely fruity green wine. First night in Luz — 14 days ago
Amazing wine
Racy and finesse
I love raspberry ganache and hardcore mineral notes
Intense spine creates body and character that is purer than the Landonne or Turque but this is more elegant as the later two - stunning display of fruit and precision
This wine has ten plus years while I think this will not last as long as Turque or Landonne — 11 days ago
Time Tested
03 was historically hot & dry. Did Monprivato succeed despite these conditions?
DAY 1
Served the wine with the Vinloq System which allows nitrogen to be pulled into the bottle with pouring
👀Brown/orange mixed with red
👃Cherries, tobacco, tar & roses. Some stewed/dried fruit
👅Mature. Florals and fruit are present. Light. Could use more acid. Easy to drink. Balanced
Remaining wine Slow Decanted in my fridge
DAY 10
Nice aged notes. Savory. Okay precision. Tannins are good. Kept improving in the glass
DAY 17
👃Classic & beautiful with aged notes. Finally what I was hoping for👍
👅Drinking well. Cherry. Significant tar. Savory
Similar on the 3 days, but the nose was most beautiful on DAY 17
The pedigree was apparent here in this lovely barolo despite the vintage conditions. Balance was retained with enough precision to allow the Mascarello Monprivato personality to come through👏 — 13 days ago
Bob McDonald

The first of 12 and an annual purchase for me. Must be the best value red wine on the planet - $24 AUD per bottle. 50% Syrah, 40% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre. I don’t know what the annual production would be but it would have to be well over a million bottles. I love Phillipe Guigals philosophy in that he says the CDR is the most important wine they produce because it is the wine most people will first be introduced to the Estate. Fresh savoury red fruits with raspberry to the fore. Quaffable and smashable. — 6 days ago
