Nearly 100% Syrah cuvée from the Languedoc, this is an amazing wine still, meaty, gamey, animale, garrigue, and surely topped off with some Brett, deep and complex, with layers of flavors, this seems close to mature, though I wouldn’t bet against further positive development in bottle, good acid balance, only minor nit is just a tad of dryness in the long, lingering finish, and only 12.5% ABV as well — 5 months ago

@Ira Schwartz , for every wine I aged that maybe I shouldn’t have, I figure about 1 of every 5 completely outperform reasonable expectations. Alas, it’s the other 4 of 5 that illustrates what happens when you’ve purchased too much wine over the years. 🤷 🤷 🤷

@Severn Goodwin , agreed on 1995, I also had some bottles of 1994 and, I think, some 1998. I don’t believe I bought anything newer than that.

Tasted alongside the Cote Doree, this is also nearly 100% Syrah, this cuvée seems a tad cleaner aromatically, without the gamey/brett notes, but show lovely dried redfruits, a smoky note underneath, as well as what I perceive as roasted onion skin, this seems clearly mature and at peak now, long, lingering finish, also 12.5% ABV, lovely!! — 5 months ago
