Deep ruby red. Plum, raspberry and blueberry. Spices. Balanced one. More concentrated than the previous vintage.

1998 vintage. Above age-appropriate fill. Great cork. Quite a bit of sed-some chunky, some powdery. Decanted and tasted after 15 minutes, 45 minutes and 1.5 hours. Respectable color. Still medium body. Nose a mix of thin, muddy, clay earth, morels and rhubarb. Flavors all that plus some muddled raspberry and a splash of black tea. Initially, a bit shy (9.1). Started to pick up steam at the second, 45 mins open taste. By 1.5 hrs, it was rolling. Could have used another hour in the decanter (as it may have yielded a 9.4) but the grabbing hands grab all they can. It's a competitive world. Can see this going another 7-8 years without noticeable, downward change but it wouldn't surprise me to find that extended to 10-12 years. 3.20.24. — 8 months ago
The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a fragrant, perfumed and classier bouquet than Hudelot-Baillet's Bonnes-Mares: well-defined with clever use of stems. Wonderful delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins. Lovely symmetry and poise build towards a linear yet intense finish. It will require 4-5 years to subsume the oak, but there is great potential, and it has a sense of statesmanlike class. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2024)

cherry, blackberry, pepper. Med+ body. The red and black fruit make this very easy to love. Find more. — 8 months ago
Muted fruit. Tasty, not great. — 3 months ago
The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Les Suchots 1er Cru, en magnum, has a clean and precise bouquet, tightly-wound at first, perhaps lean to those accustomed to more fruit driven Burgundy of late. Yet there is real tension here. The palate is medium-bodied and pliant on the entry with pointed acidity. There's a slight tapering towards the finish that you don't usually find with this climat. It is actually meliorated in the glass, so don't be afraid to decant. Tasted at Stannery Wines' producer tasting in London. (Neal Martin, Vinous, June 2024)

My continued quest to try as many 2022 Burgundies as possible.
This leans into 93 with a 92.5.
Nose of bright mid fruits with a core of dark, cherry hard candy, red licorice, baking soda with beautiful red florals.
The body is somewhat thicker than the previous two. Dark cherries, poached strawberries, blackberries, light black raspberries with some blueberry hues. Dry, fine top soil, barrel shaving dust, dry, fine tannins. Dark rich earth with dry leaves, dry twig, sagebrush, mid berry cola, light baking spices, soft dark spice, dry pipe tobacco, limestone dust, dry river stone, bright candied red, dark florals, rainfall acidy with a juicy, well balanced, elegant finish that lasts 90 seconds.
