Really enjoyed this as an easy chardonnay. Medium, not too much butter, good w our charcuterie board — a year ago
18 Davies Renteria single vineyard was solid. Probably opened too early, but a beautiful nose of cherry cola, vanilla and a bit of black tea. Not as much depth on the palate, but it’s warming up and the finish is growing in the second glass. Been consistently impressed with Davies. — 4 years ago
Jack and Jamie Davies revived the historic vineyards and cellars in 1965. Today, their son Hugh, continues their mission. Blend of 57% Chardonnayand 43% Pinot Noir, pale straw color with aromas of stone fruits, yeast and citrus notes. Nice sparkler with ripe apple, peach and pear flavors, fine mousse with tiny bubbles. Tangy acidity on a long finish ending with a spicy yeast character. Nice! — a year ago
2013 is the last vintage of this single vineyard bottling.
Lovely bouquet of raspberry, cherry cola, steep red tea, licorice, mushroom, and light baking spice. Medium body and acidity. A bit leaner than I expected on the palate. Good texture. Resolved tannins. — 3 years ago
