The final wine at the First Growth Bordeaux Lunch at the Downs Club last Saturday…. and what a great way to finish a wonderful lineup. I recall Apricot and Pear on a palate of profound intensity which delivers on the powerful nose. An obviously sweet palate with enough racy acid to keep things interesting and fresh. Popped and poured; enjoyed after dinner. The 2003 pours a beautiful amber color with and transparent core; medium+ viscosity. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of honey, dried apricots, marmalade, marzipan, and candied nuts. On the palate, the wine is sweet with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose along with some tropical fruits: passion fruit and pineapple. The finish is long and decadent. Unctuous and a lovely way to capstone a meal. Drink now through 2053+ — 19 days ago
