Flight 3 , wine 2. Medium ruby and garnet terracotta rim. Quite reticent at first but marked but a light cassis , blackcurrant note , some violet also . More menthol and cassis on the palate also . Quite good density and with good fruit , slightly medicinal hint on the finish. Pretty good overall and though rustic was well balanced . This I thought was the Duhart 82 , probably because of the density on the palate , however was wrong , yet again. — 4 days ago
The 2006 Clos Saint-Denis pours a deep ruby color with a transparent core; medium viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of tart and ripe red and black fruits: raspberry, strawberry, black cherry, eastern spices, a touch herbal and nice minerals, almost like red and purple Flintstone vitamins. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. While I can sort of understand the mixed opinions on this wine/vintage combo, I personally think this needs a lot more time. Secondary characteristics are still not really showing and the fruit and structure are still very much intact. And even in this early window, I thought this was baller alongside some absolute bangers…it just needs a lot more time. Concentrated. Desperately wanted to try this on Day 2. Drink with patience and through 2056. — 3 hours ago
Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (46%), Merlot (45%) and Petite Verdot (9%). Dark garnet/ruby color with a noticeable brick colored rim. Aromas of black fruit and berries, leather, rose petals and tobacco. Flavors of ripe black plums, black currant, black cherry, graphite and iodine. Long, earthy and softly textured finish that features a nice amount of oak. Well integrated and very soft tannins. Medium to medium-plus body. Still fresh and concentrated on it’s twentieth birthday. So easy to drink. Thanks for sharing this impressive bottle, Kase and Pete. — 6 days ago
Blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (41%), Merlot (50%), Cabernet Franc (7%) and Petit Verdot (2%), aged in French oak, 45% new, same ownership as Lynch-Bages. Deep Ruby red color with aromas of red and black fruits with smoky spice. On the palate flavors of black raspberry, currants and black cherry with licorice, toasty oak and tobacco. Fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, oak and earthy tobacco spice. Starting to drink well now and will continue to develop! — 6 days ago
Poured into a decanter about 30min prior to service and enjoyed over the course of several hours. This bottle of the 1985 was more recently acquired from the chateau and in pristine condition. The wine pours a deep garnet color with a near opaque core; medium visit with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated dark and red fruits: black currants, mixed brambles, tobacco, pencil shavings, some dried purple flowers, some green bell pepper, mushrooms, leather, some ferrous earth and gentle warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin (integrated) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and slightly savory. Elegant and beautiful this was such a fun and rewarding wine to follow as the hours rolled by. A very strong showing at 40 years young and not slowing down soon. Drink now through 2040. — 16 days ago
(Two previous 1983 wine reviews never made it on here, so copying from my CT).
Continuing a run of ‘83s over the last 3-6 months, this not only showed quite well, but it was at its best after almost two hours in the bottle. Whereas the ‘83 Pichon was clean and elegant, this was a bit more dense and powerful. Beautifully expressive aromatics of potpourri, espresso, fig and leather with a flavor profile mostly on the red/black fruit side of the spectrum. The mid-palate showed good weight and continued to bulk-up during the evening. Old cherry-tobacco note at the finish. Honestly, this drank like it was more early ‘90s than it was early ‘80s. Good. — 7 days ago
Blend of 60% Cab Sauv, 35% Merlot, 3% Cab Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, deep Ruby with aromas of dark fruits, floral and spice. On the palate flavors of black cherry, currant and blueberry fruit with cigar box, cinnamon and floral notes. Lively acidity, elegant fine tannins, well balanced, long finish ending with slight earthy notes, plenty of depth, good now and will continue to develop. — 9 days ago
Think @Sipping Fine Wine got the note right, I would just add this had really incredible mouthfeel - the tannins were solid but very finely grained & integrated. Regal bearing, long life ahead - impressive QPR — 13 days ago
This has stared to show some secondary notes. Black fruits, with nice spice, floral & tobacco. Off their list — 4 days ago

Amazing what Gonon can coerce out of these vines. Wine is alive, multilayered, dark fruit a bit of tar, incredible balance. By no way overpowering in a hot year. — 2 days ago
