Château Carmenère

Domaines Marnier Lapostolle

Clos Apalta Le Petit Clos Red Blend 2020

A blend of 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Carmenère, 19% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot, aged in 53% new oak, remainder in second used oak. Deep Ruby with pronounced aromas of ripe fruit, oak and sweet floral notes. On the palate flavors of ripe blackberry, cherry and sweet plums with vanilla, cedar, herb and earthy notes. Fine sweet tannins, long finish, well balanced with acidity, ending with notes of spice, fruit and cedar. Beautiful, just starting to open, will be good for next decade. — 2 months ago

Tenuta San Leonardo

Terre di San Leonardo Vigneti delle Dolomiti Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2017

Delectable Wine
9.1

The 2017 Terre di San Leonardo keeps you coming back to the glass to take in its intense bouquet of spiced raspberries, black licorice, crushed chalk and peppery florals. This is silky with depths of dark wild berries and inner herbal tones, all accelerated by brisk acids and a subtle hint of sour citrus. It leaves the palate reeling, lightly structured yet spry, as a primary coating of red and black fruit slowly fades. The warmth of the vintage has imparted another level of richness that isn’t often found from the Terre di San Leonardo, making it an excellent option for near-term enjoyment. This is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 10% Carmenère from the younger vines on the San Leonardo estate. (Eric Guido, Vinous, June 2022)

Château de Pressac

St. Émilion Grand Cru Merlot Blend 2021

2020 vintage. Another great effort from this Château. Already easy drinking. A lot of sweet fruit, smooth with a nice ripe tannic bite, freshness and good length. Merlot 70%, Cabernet Franc 16%, Cabernet Sauvignon 9%, Carmenère 2% and Noir de Pressac (aka Malbec) 2%. Abv. 14,5%. Hubert de Boüard consults.Don't know if it will make old bones ( a 2008 recently tasted was totally over the hill). — 2 years ago

Casa Lapostolle

Clos Apalta Limited Release Carménère Blend 2010

My last ‘10, wow how nicely this aged. One of Chile's finest premier wines. Dark deep Ruby, a blend of 71% Carmenère, 18% Cab Sauv and 11% Merlot, aged in 100% new French oak for 24 months. Aromas of ripe red fruit with sweet spice and earthy herbs. On the palate flavors of ripe plum, raspberry and black cherry and notes of figs, mushroom, vanilla and cacao. Complex structure, round velvet tannins, good balance, long finish ending with some herb, leather and espresso notes. Outstanding. — 4 years ago
