Naso intrigante di frutti tropicali e ricordi di piccoli frutti rossi. Bella bocca piena e croccante, sapida e avvolgente. Piacevolmente persistente.

More austere but is more "serious" than the Electo. Going to develop into something magical. — 10 years ago
@Delectable Wine: This is the Majolini 1981 Franciacorta Brut. I didn’t see it in the database.
My knowledge base around Franciacorta is minimal, so when seeing this available, I jumped on it.
2016 vintage. 90/10 chard/Pinot. 3yrs on the lees. I still haven’t found a perfect correlation between bubble size and region, but this was another case where the bubbles were slightly larger than most champagnes. Bright with great texture. Comes across as a nice US Cali sparkler…not much yeast, but plenty of ripe yellow fruit, honeycomb, and an airy sea breeze type flair. While not powerful or complex sparkler, it’s not a simple one either. Worked well with ceviche and arancini. — 2 years ago

Rich texture. Still very youthful. Needs time. — 10 years ago
Not as yeasty as expected for a wine that spent 6+ years on the lees. Lots of golden (bruised) apple, some pear juice, bitter lemon peel and bitter almond on the finish. Touch of honey, touch of that tangy yogurt/sourdough thing happening. Hint of RS but the acidity is banging. — 6 years ago
Easy, light, very drinkable — 7 years ago
This is a fabulous rose of pinot. Cheers — 10 years ago
Evolved but showing well - button mushroom, caramel, clove, spice, slight cider, mineral. Just past it's peak but excellent. — 10 years ago
Shay A
The producer who first started Franciacorta. This is roughly 90/10 Chardonnay/Pinot noir.
Compared to the Majolini I opened a few months back, this is a bit more crisp. The best compliment I can give this wine is that it comes across as a non-descript champagne. It’s not overly fruity or too steely like some Franciacorta can be, it’s perfectly balanced for the style. No yeast. It’s fairly creamy, with peach, caramel dipped apple and a slightly brisk/savory finish (almond/walnut like, but not champagne-nutty). Semi-mineral driven finish. Good at the $30’ish price. — 2 years ago
